A ping flood is a DOS attack from like 1995, these days it requires a heavily coordinated attack to bring down a normal broadband connection. ping -t is okay for jitter, but not so much for packet loss. I'm not too keen waiting 100 seconds for what can take 0.1 seconds with a flood ping utility.
